3. What did he Accomplish?

In 1915 when Gandhi returned from South Africa he immediately embarked on his mission to free India from British rule. South Africa was Gandhi's Training Ground for the Fight now at hand. In this Section I will focus on his Successes :

In 1915 Gandhi fought against Indented Indian Emigration which made Indians have to leave the Country If the British demanded them to. Gandhi fought against this act and successfully won.

In 1918 Textile Manufactures went on strike for better wages and Gandhi helped them by fasting, forcing the managers to increase the wages 33%.

In 1931 Gandhi and the Viceroy of India, Lord Irwin reached an agreement known as the Delhi Pact which allowed India to make it's own Goods and not Import them from Britain. This also gave Indians the right to own a business without British Authority.

In 1932 when Gandhi is in Jail he commences a fast to secure a separate electorate for Harijans, who were the lowest caste also known as the Untouchables. This gave the Harijans more power in the Congress and more lower class supporters.

In 1937 Gandhi commences one of his famous "Fasts unto Death" to secure the adherence to promises on Government Reform which gave the rising India more power politically.

In 1946 The Viceroy of India, Irwin allows the Indian National Congress to form a Provisional Government which allowed India to set up it's own Government but Britain still controls India.

Finally in 1947 The Independence of India Bill is passed giving Indians full authority of India but Britain was in a wartime status and they still needed India so the New Viceroy Mountbatten tells Gandhi that if they want India They must either unite their Muslims and Hindus or form two separate countries. Jinnah, the head of the Muslims dosen't agree to a peaceful resolution so Gandhi painfully agrees to separate the India he worked so hard for into Pakistan and India.
